Police in Lang Son are currently investigating Quach Dinh Trong, a 57-year-old bus driver who was involved in a collision between his 16-seat bus and two trucks in Huu Lung District. Trong is being examined for potential violations of road traffic regulations.
According to Trong, he claimed that he did not feel tired while driving. He attributed the accident to the darkness and the steepness of the road, which hindered his ability to react promptly when he noticed a container truck parked on the roadside.
The authorities are currently investigating whether Nguyen Van Tuan, aged 38, was causing an obstruction to traffic by parking his tow truck alongside the road when the incident occurred. Tuan's truck was rear-ended by Trong's bus before subsequently colliding with another truck approaching from the opposite direction. Tragically, this chain of events led to the unfortunate loss of five lives among the bus passengers. The police are actively working towards clarifying the circumstances surrounding this devastating accident.
None of the drivers involved in the accident had consumed alcohol or drugs. It is worth noting that at the time of the incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, the bus lacked updated itinerary monitoring data.
