Nguyen Toan, aged 55, and Duong Cong Tan, aged 51, were employed as workers at the Thuan Hung Company. This company acts as a contractor for the Son Hai Corporation, which is responsible for the construction of the expressway.
While relocating equipment for the subterranean electrical systems construction of the project, Toan and Tan became buried under debris. Despite the efforts of their colleagues to alert emergency services and rescue them, unfortunately, they were unable to be saved.
According to a spokesperson from the My Hiep Commune People's Committee, recent heavy rainfall in the vicinity has resulted in erosion and landslides occurring at the construction site. Prompt action has been taken to inform the relevant authorities, who will now assess the safety conditions at the site.
The Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon expressway is a project that stretches across 88 km, passing through the regions of Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh. The total investment for this venture amounts to VND20 trillion. It is anticipated that the expressway will be fully operational by the third quarter of 2026.
