Starting from Thursday, users in Vietnam will have the convenience of signing up for a ChatGPT account without the hassle of switching regions or using a foreign phone number.
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has expanded its services in Vietnam, enabling users to buy ChatGPT Plus and access its API using various payment methods such as Visa, Mastercard cards, and digital wallets.
Thanh Hung, a resident of Hanoi working in an office, mentioned that he recently obtained access to ChatGPT Plus by making a payment of VND475,000 ($19.33) through MoMo. However, he pointed out that certain individuals encountered difficulties in receiving the necessary OTP codes on their mobile phones during the signup process.
Minh Tam, an administrator of a Facebook group focused on AI chatbots, suggested that users could address the problem by utilizing WhatsApp.
According to him, a few group members have stated that WhatsApp is able to receive OTP codes from OpenAI at a quicker rate compared to the default text messaging apps on their phones.
In Vietnam, individuals have the option to download the ChatGPT application from either the App Store or Google Play. To get started, users are required to verify their email addresses and phone numbers. Once verified, they can begin utilizing the chatbot services. The free version of the chatbot operates on the GPT-3.5 model, while the Plus version, available for a fee of $20, employs the more advanced GPT-4 model.
