Around 4:30 p.m., a middle-aged man of 50 years was behind the wheel of a seven-seat vehicle, traveling along Nguyen Van Tang Street. His intended course was from the Vinhomes Grand Park urban area towards the Hanoi Highway in Thu Duc City. Upon reaching an intersection, unfortunate circumstances led to a collision between his car and two vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Subsequently, the car also collided with three motorbikes - two were in motion on the road, while one was parked on the adjacent sidewalk.
The car with seven seats relentlessly crashed into a beverage stall, eventually coming to a halt. The forceful collision tragically claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman, who was a college student riding a motorbike, while also causing injuries to two other individuals.
The accident resulted in significant damage to all of the vehicles involved. As a consequence, Nguyen Van Tang Street experienced a substantial increase in congestion due to the ensuing commotions.
According to Tung, who is the owner of the house that was struck by the car, the driver emerged from the vehicle appearing fatigued and displaying indications of alcohol consumption. Concerned locals took it upon themselves to bring the driver to the nearby police station for further investigation.
The driver informed the police that he had been involved in a prior car accident, which may have affected his ability to control his speed appropriately. The authorities conducted tests to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident, but the results have not been disclosed as of yet.
